Canaveral National Seashore

Monday March 11, 2019

I have been in Florida living full time in my RV since Thanksgiving, but it has been a while since I visited the ocean. So, today I thought I would make a trip over to the Atlantic Ocean and spend a day walking (hiking) the beach, listening to the wave and soaking in some of that sun that makes Florida so famous. No offense Mickey!

I discovered this beach several years ago during a family vacation, so while I was in the area I wanted to pay it another visit. The beach is operated by the National Park Service and is called the Canaveral National Seashore. It is located 31 minutes from Downtown Titusville and just north of Cape Canaveral which is famous for the Kennedy Space Center and of course the site where our Space Shuttles are launched.

As a nature lover this beach is perfect, because it is big on natural beauty and slim on human development. As you lay back and listen to the waves you will not see any high-rise condo’s, neon lights or restaurants. It is just you, the beach, a few birds, the waves and the vast ocean.

Also due to its remoteness and I am assuming the $15.00 entrance fee, the crowds are small and parking is easy. There are 13 designated parking areas, each with a bathroom and a boardwalk that leads a short distance up and over the dunes to the beach. Once at the beach you will be rewarded by wide open spaces and plenty of room to plop your lawn chair. At this point all you have to do is sit back and let the sun and wave take you way.

I would encourage anyone who is near Titusville to take a day trip to the Canaveral National Seashore and LOSE TRACK OF TIME on the beach. Don’t for get your sunscreen 🙂
