After my 2 week stay at Thousand Trails Orlando, I was required to check out and begin a search for my next campground. I had scheduled an appointment with a local RV Repair Shop (Pro-Tech) for the following week so I wanted to stay in the area. Approximately 10 miles up US 27 was a Lake Louisa State Park. I had heard from other RVers that this was a really nice state park and the campground was situated between two of the biggest lakes in the park. I did not disappoint.

Lake Lousia State Park is a 4,500 acre park that protects 6 lakes with 105 acres of shoreline, 2 streams and 11 natural communities. As I drove 3 mile drive from the guard house to the campground it became obvious that nature is the big draw to this park.

The campground voted one of America’s Top 100 Family campgrounds by Reserve America is comprised of 3 loops and a total of 60 campsites. Each campsite has electric (30/50) water and some include sewer at no additional cost. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. I also found that most of the campsites have some shade so you can get out of the direct sunlight. There are 2 bath houses with showers and laundry is available. There is also a camp canteen that rents Kayaks and sells firewood, snacks, live bait and basic fishing supplies.

I was assigned site number 10. It was a 52 foot pull through with a great view of Hammond Lake. The campground has 2 very nice fishing piers. There is one on each lake making it an opportune place to cast a line or just relax and watch the water lap up on shore. Pets are allowed as long as they are kept on a 6 foot hand held leash. The cost per night for these campsites is $26.64 (tax included).

Lake Louisa, which is where the park gets its name is an additional 4 miles north from the campground. Much larger in size, Lake Louisa boasts a swimming area, playground, bathhouse and picnic area under some beautiful live oak trees.

If hiking or biking is your thing Lake Louisa State Park has 23 miles of trails which will take you to some of the more remote areas of the park. I did not take any of the trails during my visit as the weather was very hot and it rained often but I would have enjoyed exploring of the some of the smaller lakes/ponds in the back country. There are also 16 miles of horseback riding trails with stables.

Lake Louisa has it all including Horseshoe pits and a sand volleyball court. If in the Clermont area (very close to Disney and attractions) and want a peaceful place to get away from it all then I highly recommend contacting http://www.reserveamerica.com and plan your stay. You won’t regret Losing Track of Time at this park!
